Massage Therapy and Me
How to begin? I guess I should start with the fact that I was always interested in massage therapy, but my first career was in construction. I never thought to follow my real passion in bodywork and massage until landing in Bali and working on a project building a meditation retreat. It was there where I decided that enough was enough and at the age of 37 after working in construction for almost 20 years, I decided to return home to Portland, Oregon and apply for massage therapy school. My passion for learning about the body was sparked there and has not dwindled at all since. In fact it has grown considerably! My wife often jokingly comments on my slight obsession with learning about the body, the mechanics of it, and how to improve mobility and overall function! She would be happy to hear me say that she is right... but don’t tell her that 😉
Other than my passion for massage therapy and wellness, I also am the proud father of two beautiful children ages 1 and 3. My wife and I met through a mutual love of acrobatic yoga in Portland, which we have continued working on throughout two pregnancies and moving across the country! Another part of what makes me who I am is my strong dedication to my spiritual life and meditation practice. Without it I know that my life would be much different, and I feel very connected to the world around me and the people in it because of my practice. In my spare time (wait, what spare time!?) I am busy finishing house projects like the chicken coop for our 23 (thanks to the local fox we're down to 16) chickens, a little run for future animals, reading always reading about new techniques in manual therapy and massage, and lately riding my daughter around on my bike. Wow is that fun. So there is me in a nutshell. I look forward to meeting you and getting you onto the table for massage soon!
